It's been a while since we served up something sweet for you guys. As delicious and complicated as it looks and sounds, we cheated a bit with this. Just a little. And when you prepare it in advance, these tarts cook up in just twenty minutes and are ready to be served. Can you believe it? We can.

Maple Walnut Tarts

1 box frozen puffed pastry cups

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 stick melted butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp lemon extract

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 carton eggnog ice cream (Trader Joe's has the best around)

1/4 cup of our very own rum caramel sauce

The puffed pastry needs to bake for ten minutes before we can fill the cups up with our maple filling. So toss those in the oven at 350 degrees, or whatever the box says specifically.

For the filling, stir the brown sugar, butter, vanilla & lemon extracts, maple syrup, and walnuts in a small bowl. When the pastry cups are done half-baking, fill them up with small spoonfuls of the maple filling. Finish baking them for another 10 minutes. They are bound to get ooey-gooey in the process, so don't stress about neatness.

When they're done, plate with a scoop of eggnog ice cream, two of the tarts, and drizzle with rum caramel sauce. Add as much as you'd like. Cover the whole plate with the caramel. Who cares? It's Christmas, go wild.

There you have it. A too-easy dessert, all made with one bowl. Your sweet tooth will thank you.
